April joined Georgia River Network as the Executive Director in June, 2003. In this position, she works with watershed groups across the state providing strategic planning facilitation and organizational consultations, issue and skill-based educational trainings, and statewide policy analyses. April is from Indiana, where she was the Executive Director of the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. April also served as the Public Relations Specialist for the Association, as the Coordinator of the St. Joseph River Watershed Initiative, and as an environmental educator. She brings to the position a wealth of experience in managing non-profit organizations, facilitating collaborative efforts, and helping watershed organizations effectively work for the protection of their local water bodies. Her skill set includes non-profit management, fundraising, strategic planning facilitation, developing and implementing educational campaigns, grassroots organizing, expertise in watershed conservation, social marketing principals and practices, anddevelopment of training materials and programs. April received her Bachelor of Science from Purdue University, where she majored in Natural Resources & Environmental Science with a specialization in aquatic resources. She has also completed post graduate work in non-profit marketing, public relations, and web design.

Dana is in charge of correspondence,
book-keeping, and public outreach. Originally from
Roswell, Georgia, she graduated from Clemson University
with a B.A. in Spanish and International Trade and
a Masters in Parks, Recreation and Tourism. Dana
has previously worked in the Education Department
at ZooAtlanta, served as Director of Education and
Monitoring for Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and
coordinated the Georgia Stream Buffer Initiative.
She is a member of the Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Advisory
Board and has been
involved with the program since 1994 as a trainer,
watershed
coordinator,
advisory board member and
volunteer.
She also serves on the Board of RiversAlive, and
is a past president of the Upper Oconee Watershed
Network.

A native of Rome, GA, Jesslyn
brings a variety of important skills and experience
to Georgia
River Network’s Watershed Support Coordinator
position. Jesslyn has taught English composition,
plant identification,
creative writing and stream ecology to adults of
various ages. She also has training in non-profit
organizational management including group start-up
processes, finding and sustaining stable sources
of funding, event planning and promotion, recruitment
and maintenance of loyal volunteers, and planning
for future growth and/or new projects. Over the past
decade, she has volunteered for watershed groups
both in Georgia and nationwide, including the Upper
Oconee Watershed Network, Broad River Watershed Association
and the Coosa River Basin Initiative. Jesslyn received
her B.A. from Prescott College, majoring in Environmental
Studies with a minor in
creative writing and a focus on human-land relations.
She received her M.S. from the University of Montana,
Department of Environmental Studies. Jesslyn’s
work experience also includes work as a Research Technician
in
Fish and Aquatic Ecology
at the University of Georgia-Institute of Ecology,
a Botany Field Technician and a Laboratory Technician.
